Steve drifted into accountancy as a career working mainly in professional practice and a brief spell in the TV and film production industry.
After 30 years Steve was getting bored with auditing and accounting. Luckily at this point he was elected as managing partner of his firm leading 150+ people across 6 offices in the south of England through the recession and achieving stellar results along the way. This led to him being elected by the worldwide membership of the international practice the firm is a member of as a director of the main international board. This presented a different scale of business issues with over 20,000 people in over 100 countries.
Having served the maximum 6 years as managing partner Steve stood down in 2014 and in 2016 dreading the thought of having to sign yet another audit report left practice to concentrate on his NED, consulting and pro bono roles.
He is now Chair, NED, Trustee or adviser to the boards of 5 companies, 3 charities and the Business Support sub-group of Oxfordshire LEP as well as his own consultancy company.
